Ultrahuman launches advanced snoring and coughing analytics for 500,000+ users – powered by Sleep Cycle

December 18, 2025

London, 18 December 2025 – Ultrahuman, the global leader in wearable health technology, together with Sleep Cycle, the world’s leading AI sleep technology company, today announced the launch of the Respiratory Health PowerPlug for Ultrahuman Ring AIR.

For the first time in wearables and smart rings, Ring AIR utilizes high-resolution audio analysis and biomarker data, allowing users to understand how snoring, coughing, and breathing disruptions directly correlate with sleep, recovery, and long-term health outcomes.

Far from a mild annoyance for partners, habitual snorers face up to a 46% higher risk of stroke. What’s more, 1/3 of regular snorers may have undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition affecting nearly 1 billion adults worldwide, that can cause hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

Users in the UK and US snore for 40–45 minutes per night, often without being aware of it. Women snore nearly as much as men — just nine minutes less on average — but massively under-report their snoring, contributing to widespread under-diagnosis.

How the Respiratory Health PowerPlug works

The Respiratory Health PowerPlug fuses Sleep Cycle’s proprietary AI sound SDK with Ring AIR’s advanced biomarker tracking, creating one of the most comprehensive consumer tools ever built for understanding nighttime respiratory stability.

By combining sound classification with biometric signals, Ring AIR delivers a deeper, more actionable sleep picture:

  • Detects snoring, coughing, and respiratory disturbances through validated, on-device audio classification using the user’s smartphone.
  • Reveals patterns, trends, and changes in respiratory health over time.
  • Aligns every disturbance with core physiological signals from the Ring AIR — including HRV, resting heart rate, movement patterns, and sleep fragmentation — to show exactly how breathing issues shape sleep quality and recovery.
  • Delivers a clear morning report, helping users understand what affected sleep and decide which habits or interventions to try next.

All respiratory audio is processed, stored, and managed entirely on the user’s device. No sound files are uploaded to Ultrahuman or Sleep Cycle servers, and users can delete recordings at any time.

Mohit Kumar, CEO of Ultrahuman, said: “Snoring is treated like a joke in popular culture, but physiologically, it’s one of the earliest warning signs that something isn’t right. Most people never see their own snoring patterns, which is why problems escalate silently for years. By pairing respiratory sound analysis with real-time biometrics, Ring AIR now shows users the signals they routinely miss — the breathing disruptions that fragment sleep, impair recovery, and are linked to long-term cardiovascular risk. Awareness is the first line of prevention, and this feature delivers it with unprecedented clarity.”

How users turn these insights into better outcomes

The Respiratory Health PowerPlug helps users understand the hidden breathing disruptions that quietly erode sleep quality and performance.

By revealing when snoring or coughing intensified, and showing how those events corresponded with drops in HRV, elevated nighttime heart rate, or repeated awakenings, Ring AIR wearers gain a precise understanding of their respiratory health.

This enables practical, behaviour-driven adjustments and awareness:

  • Reducing alcohol effects on respiratory patterns.
  • Managing congestion.
  • Trialling interventions including side sleeping, pillows, or nose taping.
  • Starting a conversation with doctors or professionals.

Instead of noticing the impact weeks later through fatigue or poor recovery, Ring AIR users can respond to trends as they emerge and better protect the limited sleep hours that determine next-day resilience.

Sleep Cycle’s Head of Sleep Science, Michael Gradisar, said:

“Habitual snoring is not benign. Many studies have linked it to the development of various metabolic disorders. By combining Sleep Cycle’s and Ultrahuman’s technologies, people can become more aware of snoring’s silent impact on their health. This may lead to simple interventions like side sleeping, which people can monitor and see the difference for themselves.”

Availability

The Respiratory Health PowerPlug is now opening to users, with access rolling out via the waitlist in the Ultrahuman app. It costs $3.99/£2.99/€3.99 per month or $39.99/£29.99/€39.99 per year.
