Ultrahuman launches Pulsomics: A foundational model of the human pulse

[Bengaluru, India – 1 September 2026] – Ultrahuman today announced Pulsomics, an opt-in research programme built directly into the Ultrahuman app. Ring users can contribute to scientific research from home simply by wearing their Ring to sleep.

Wellness models are only as good as the data they are built on. Signals from wearables are affected by skin tone, body composition, and how the device is worn. Too often, the algorithms and models behind key health insights have been built on small groups that lack diversity, measured under supervision, in short sessions.

Pulsomics is built to change that. By opting in, users supply age, sex, height, weight, ethnicity and skin tone information. Overnight pulse signal data is captured alongside lifestyle data from the Ultrahuman Ring, continuous glucose monitors, blood panels, and even VO2 Max tests, building rich multimodal datasets that are larger, more representative, and recorded in real life.

Three studies open today

  • Sleep Sufficiency Study – pairs daily sleep journaling with pulse signal data, working toward a measure of how much sleep an individual actually needs rather than a population average.
  • Glucose Metabolism Study – pairs pulse signal with a recent blood test panel, working toward metabolic insight from the Ring without a separate lab measurement each time.
  • VO₂ Max Study – pairs pulse signal with fitness and lab references, working toward cardiovascular fitness estimation across a far wider range of people than lab testing can reach.

More studies follow, including cardiovascular load and a longitudinal sleep journal.

Pulsomics extends a research programme that has already produced published work, including validation of Ultrahuman's Metabolic Score in Scientific Reports, a study of sleep consistency and nocturnal glucose control across 227,860 nights developed with Stanford's Snyder Lab, Bangor University and La Trobe University, and an ongoing Mayo Clinic study using the Ultrahuman Ring to monitor sleep and activity in patients being treated with GLP-1 medications.

Participants join a Pulsomics study, share their health context during onboarding, and wear the Ring as they normally would. The Ultrahuman Ring records short windows of raw pulse signal automatically overnight.

Gold standard privacy protocols

Pulsomics is wellness research rather than a medical test, so no diagnosis or personal result is returned. Participants see their own contribution, the nights they have logged and the studies they have joined, alongside programme-level progress on how the models are developing.

Taking part is free and voluntary, and participants can opt out at any time. Data is de-identified before it is used, is never sold, and is never shared with advertisers, employers or insurers. Anything published uses aggregated data across many de-identified participants.

Availability and approvals

Pulsomics is available in the Ultrahuman app to Ring users aged 18 and over, on both Ultrahuman Ring AIR and Ring PRO. 

The study is registered with the Clinical Trials Registry – India (CTRI), CTRI/2026/08/115584, a Primary Registry within the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform network. It holds ethics committee approval from Medstar Speciality Hospital Ethics Committee (ECR/1324/Inst/KA/2019/RR-24).

Findings will be published in peer-reviewed journals, white papers, and community reports.
