Ultrahuman Home brings next-generation ambient sleep monitoring with snore and cough analysis

Bengaluru, India – 20 November 2025 – Ultrahuman, a global leader in health technology, today announced a major upgrade to Ultrahuman Home, expanding the device into one of the most comprehensive ambient sleep monitors available.

Embracing the next generation of off-body sleep tracking, Ultrahuman Home provides detailed insights into the environmental and physiological factors that influence sleep quality.

It helps users understand why their sleep is disrupted by analyzing air quality, ambient light, and noise, as well as snoring and coughing episodes – all without requiring a wearable device. Ultrahuman Home tracks sleep for anyone in the room, making it ideal for shared bedrooms, children’s rooms, and households.

Ultrahuman Home is available now from ultrahuman.com and retailers, including Amazon, at a new price of $399, and is subject to an additional 15% Black Friday discount until 1 December. Existing users will receive all new features via a software update rolling out worldwide starting today.

Ambient sleep monitoring

Ultrahuman Home monitors the complete sleep environment to create an Ambient Sleep Score every night that reveals how surroundings influence rest and recovery.

Environmental factors are interpreted through well-established sleep-science principles:

  • Light exposure – Blue-rich light in the evening suppresses melatonin and shifts circadian timing, making it harder to fall asleep. Even low-level light at night can reduce deep and REM stability by triggering brief arousal responses.

  • Noise patterns – Sudden or low-frequency noise activates the body’s stress response, raising heart rate and breaking up sleep cycles. These autonomic spikes disrupt deep and REM sleep even if you don’t fully wake up.

  • Air quality and CO₂ – Elevated CO₂ leads to lighter, more fragmented sleep by increasing the body’s drive to breathe. Poor air quality — including VOCs, formaldehyde, and fine particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10) — can irritate the airways and increase respiratory effort, reducing sleep continuity.

  • Temperature and humidity – When the room drifts outside a comfortable range, the body works harder to regulate temperature. This increases restlessness, reduces deep sleep, and makes it harder to stay asleep.

Using AI-enabled spatial audio detection, Ultrahuman Home identifies and categorizes both human and environmental sounds. Trained on more than 500 unique audio signatures, it can distinguish snoring, coughing, breathing, and baby crying from ambient sounds like cars, sirens, or barking dogs — tagging events in the Ultrahuman app to show exactly what disrupted sleep.

Snoring and coughing detection

Alongside environmental analysis, Ultrahuman Home offers a complete respiratory health stack powered by dual precision microphones and AI-based event detection.

It identifies snoring intensity, cough frequency, and breathing irregularities, generating a Respiratory Health Score with time-stamped events and optional audio playback.

The Respiratory Health Score is designed to support early detection of breathing disturbances and related conditions. Chronic or high-volume snoring is often linked to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) – a disorder that affects nearly 1 billion adults aged 30–69 worldwide. Research suggests that more than 70% of habitual snorers may have undiagnosed OSA, which can contribute to long-term cardiovascular and cognitive decline.

By turning overnight respiratory patterns into clear, interpretable signals, Ultrahuman Home helps users notice changes earlier and make more informed decisions about their sleep and health.

Privacy remains a core design principle. Users can disable the microphones using a physical switch at any time, and all recordings can be permanently deleted. Data handling complies with HIPAA and GDPR standards.

Smart home integration

Coming in December 2025, Ultrahuman Home will control smart home devices to take action on the ambient and environmental cues that affect sleep. It will automatically adjust lights, purifiers, thermostats, and HVAC systems – tuning temperature, humidity, and light exposure in real time to support deeper, more restorative rest.

Ultrahuman is targeting Matter compatibility, which removes cross-ecosystem friction between platforms like Apple Home, Google Home, and Alexa, making setup and automation simpler and more reliable.
